Running A Marathon or Having A Baby? How High Impact Training & Planning For Pregnancy Are Alike!

There are lots of incredible changes our bodies have the ability to manage. From running a marathon to having a baby, your body is able to train, prepare, and shift a variation of your internal systems to support high-impact changes and massive movements of energy. This is to be celebrated! And trained for correctly.

Whether you’re starting to try to conceive or begin your training regime for a major physical feat, to if you’ve just gotten the great news of a little one on the way or you took the leap and signed up for a race on a whim– your number one goal is to prepare your body!

Let’s talk about what you need to consider from the start:

  1. Sustenance. Diet sounds negative, let’s talk about what can support you rather than what you have to get rid of. Clean, whole foods and a well-balanced diet helps you balance so many different parts of you. Don’t be afraid to make changes in your grocery list during the time your body prepares. Chatting with a professional who can help you assess your body’s needs is always a plus when it comes to this rapid time of change. The closer you get to your goal, the more support your body may need.

  2. Consistent Movement. Movement doesn’t always have to be hard to be healthy. Taking the time for consistent, slow movement allows your body to re-regulate your nervous system between times of strain or stress.

  3. Matching rest with growth. Don’t be afraid to rest extra! Your body heals so much on its own during times of rest. Don’t think of taking time off your feet as something to feel guilty about, during recovery time, your body is working plenty hard.

  4. Find your team. The group of individuals who will be in your corner shouting your name the whole way, believing in you and constantly focused on empowering you to make the best decisions for your body during your journey.   5. Make a post feat plan. Whatever care you want to get lined up, consider it from the start. Design your recovery plan before you exhaust yourself with training and preparing your body.
